Laura Rivera Gomez

Undergraduate Research Assistant

Laura is a third year undergraduate student in the mechanical engineering student seeking a certificate in sustainable energy systems. She works for the Webber Energy Group as an undergraduate research assistant, supporting investigation involving wastewater treatment strategies associated with oil and gas operations as well as potential waste reduction and optimization of oil and gas production site operations.

Laura’s academic interests include energy, with a focus on efficiency and sustainability. In January 2016, she began working part time as an engineering intern with CLEAResult, an Austin-based energy efficiency services company. In addition, Laura previously completed summer internships with Cummins Inc. as a product validation engineer for heavy-duty filtration and with General Electric Company as a technical specialist in their locomotive division.

Previously, Laura studied for a year abroad in Flensburg, Germany, where she lived with a host family, and she continues to volunteer in Austin as an area representative for incoming high school foreign exchange students. Her other interests include running and other outdoor activities.
