Jena Medina is a fourth-year undergraduate student pursuing a degree in environmental engineering. She is originally from New Orleans, LA and served in the U.S. Navy as a nuclear electrician from 2012-2018, where she specialized in power distribution and nuclear operations. Her time in the Navy sparked an interest in energy systems and their impacts on the environment. Since returning to school, Jena has interned for the Water Resources team at Halff Associates and most recently for the Environmental team at the ExxonMobil Billings Refinery for the summer and fall of 2022. Now with the Webber Energy Group, Jena works with Dr. Emily Beagle, Dr. Josh Rhodes, and Leah Pretorius analyzing the effects of adding energy storage to the electric grid for Austin Energy.
