Emily Altamirano

Emily Altamirano is a third-year Environmental Engineering student. Emily is a part of the grid modeling team led by Dr. Joshua D. Rhodes; her work focuses on how offshore wind’s reliability changes under different demand growth scenarios in ERCOT’s Gulf Coast region. With the broader goal of better understanding the reliability of offshore wind and helping inform future grid investments.

Before joining the Webber Energy Group, Emily was an undergraduate research assistant in the department of ocean engineering, where she focused on optimizing turbine design. Over the summer, she was an HSE intern for Chevron, based in Midland, Texas. In her free time, Emily enjoys playing on UT intermural volleyball teams, she is an active member of SHPE (Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers) and her local church, The Austin Stone.
